USC Hillel's
Giving Tuesday Phone-a-thon

Tuesday, November 30

This year for Giving Tuesday, USC Hillel will be relaunching our student Phone-a-thon! The Phone-a-thon is led by students, and one of our most successful fundraisers to date. The Phone-a-thon connects students with USC alumni, parents, and friends to raise money over the phone for Hillel programming.

What is Giving Tuesday? GivingTuesday, often stylized as #GivingTuesday for the purposes of hashtag activism, is the Tuesday after Thanksgiving in the United States. It is touted as a "global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world."

Why does USC Hillel participate in Giving Tuesday: USC Hillel is a 501c3 (nonprofit) organization. We do not receive financial assistance or any resources from the university. This means each year, we must raise the money needed for operating the organization- about one million dollars- through grants and individual donations. The more money we raise, the more we can spend on fun and meaningful programs!

What we’re raising money for: Our Giving Tuesday Campaign will focus on raising money for three main initiatives: Shabbat Warmth Project (bringing heaters, and a soup/tea station to Shabbat dinner), Affinity groups like PCH/NJQ, and to start at garden at USC Hillel.

Incentives: For every donation you secure, we'll give you a $5 gift card to Starbucks or Amazon. That means if you solicit 5 gifts, you'll have $25 in gift cards to spend! The student who secures the most donations, will have the opportunity to work with Chef Viv to set a spring semester Shabbat menu!
