Freshman Engagement Fellowship Application (FEF)

Freshfest is a USC Hillel pre-orientation program for incoming Jewish students. As one of our biggest events of the year, Freshfest welcomes over 150 incoming students and introduces them into the Jewish Trojan family. We are looking for Freshmen Engagement Fellows to serve as campus ambassadors and facilitate the transition to college life.

Freshman Engagement Fellowship Responsibilities:

  • Attend 3 FreshFest leader training sessions; including a mandatory meeting on Sunday, March 25 (10am-12pm), Sunday, April 29 (10am-12pm) and Sunday, August 12 at Hillel (time TBD).
  • Recruit for, attend and facilitate small groups at USC Hillel’s annual FreshFest retreat (Monday, August 13 and Tuesday, August 14, 2018).
  • Build relationships, through individual meetings, with members of your FreshFest group after FreshFest, connecting them to Jewish life on campus.
  • Attend monthly meetings with the Hillel Staff and fellow FEFs for monthly learning, skills training, check-in about one-on-one engagement and plan events as a group for Jewish freshmen.

Additionally, FEFs will each have a budget of $250 / year to spend on engagement and group get-togethers with their freshmen cohort from FreshFest. FEFs will also be acknowledged on the USC Hillel website and in our fall newsletter for their involvement in this exciting fellowship.

Freshman Engagement Fellows play a vital role in engaging the newest members of the Jewish Trojan Family. This Fellowship, which lasts for the entire school year strives to ease the transition to life at USC. Freshmen Engagement Fellows (FEFs) are student leaders who serve as mentors to new Jewish students, staffing FreshFest and building meaningful lasting relationships with new students.
