The campus is open and classes are in schedule as of this morning, November 1. We are continuing to monitor this situation, but it appears to have been resolved.

Senior Emily Baumgarten and Junior Scott Buchanan had a chance to thank The Jewish Federation, Birthright Israel Foundation and generous donor Albert Sweet for creating the first ever Birthright Innovation and Tech tour last winter. Emily shared stories about the group’s trip to the top of Masada while Scott shared his experience meeting Israeli soldiers, relating that to his experience as an ROTC member and Midshipman in the US Navy.

USC Hillel was presented with the 2012 Visions and Values Award for Excellence in Development at this years Hillel Institute Conference. The award recognized USC Hillel for the establishment of the USC Jewish Alumni Association, the transformation and growth of its Board of Directors, and for its collaboration and partnership with USC’s senior administration and fundraising teams. — at Washington University Steinberg.

Kenneth Leventhal, a pioneer in the field of real estate accounting, chairman emeritus of the Ernst & Young Kenneth Leventhal Real Estate Group, a USC trustee and namesake of the USC Elaine and Kenneth Leventhal School of Accounting, died in Los Angeles on May 8 at the age of 90.
