Kenneth Leventhal, a pioneer in the field of real estate accounting, chairman emeritus of the Ernst & Young Kenneth Leventhal Real Estate Group, a USC trustee and namesake of the USC Elaine and Kenneth Leventhal School of Accounting, died in Los Angeles on May 8 at the age of 90.

USC President C. L. Max Nikias recently returned from an historic 10-day mission to Israel with a delegation that included Provost Elizabeth Garrett, other senior USC Administrators, Deans, Trustees and faculty. The delegation met and forged relationships with university presidents and administrators, leading scientists and academics, prominent business executives, cultural leaders, elected officials and security experts. The closing destination of the USC Delegation to Israel was the city of Jerusalem, where delegates continued to meet with higher education colleagues; held private meetings with leaders in government to gain insight into the country’s priority areas in research and plans for economic development; and made visits to the city’s major cultural and historic institutions. The Tel Aviv portion of the USC Delegation visit to Israel included meetings with the academic leadership of Tel Aviv University (TAU), a comprehensive liberal arts university that is the largest university in Israel; and with leadership and faculty of The Weizmann Institute of Science, one of the world’s leading multidisciplinary research institutions, conducting basic science research through five faculties: mathematics and computer science, physics, chemistry, biochemistry and biology.
